Neel Cole

Inspirational Texas Grunge Artist Out Of Austin, TX

Meshing the worlds of Rock, Grunge, Blues and Country, they created a "unique Texas Sound" as one Texas club owner put it.

Neel Cole has been singing, playing guitar & writing since his early teens. In the early years a lot of his influences came from Rock, Glam, and Texas Blues. When the landscape of Rock changed in the 1990’s, he found a great love in the Seattle sound. After many years of Grunge influenced original projects, Neel took a few years and stepped away from the live stage. Through a brief stint working at a country dance hall, Neel came to find an appreciation for Country and all of its sub-genres.

For a period of time, Neel worked as a guitarist/vocalist in a country dance band. He took the opportunity to learn about the music, harmonies, and other facets of the genre.

Raised on grunge & country, he is continuing his career as a songwriter, trying to pour his heart into every performance. He strives to take his listeners away from the everyday rat race so for a few brief hours they too can feel the love that is music!

Joined by Kenneth Simmons (Bass, 2018-2020) & Pedro Duquesne (Drums, 2018-2024) in 2018, they worked on his songs, as well as creating new ones!

In 2018 the released their first EP "Down In The Mud", which has received much praise from reviewers. They followed it up with the EP "Bricks" in 2019, & their first full-length CD "Face The Day" in 2021!

Sadly, in 2020, Kenneth Simmons decided it was time for him to step down from the stage onto the next phases of life, for the betterment of him and his family. He will be missed greatly! A wonderful player by the name of Wen Thai Liu has joined their ranks, & they subsequently released their first colaberation "The Trilogy Of The Stones" in 2022. In 2024, Pedro Duquesne was replaced by Joe "Snoopy" Melvin (Drums/Vocals, 2024-Present) to expand on their sound. They’ve also put together a Tribute performance labeled “PJ3 - A Pearl Jam Trio” performing Pearl Jam & assorted loose change from Seattle & beyond! Keep your ears open!

In 2025 NEEL COLE & SOUTHERN ST. will release one final offering to the world!

The next adventure will begin shortly...

Press / Reviews

Press review #1

"What I love about this band is that they write from a place of depth, and they craft their songs based on those intentions and feelings - they don't seem to sit down and say 'let's write a country song, let's write something blue-rock', the concept and moment comes first, which gives them purpose, and a quickly unique vibe that runs throughout [their music]." - Rebecca Cullen, Founder & Editor, Stereostickman.com

Press review #2

"While [Face The Day] is a high-powered guitar-driven track, the clever arrangement of instruments (including Cole’s voice) gives prominence to each element. It is not stunted in any way, but the simplicity of the melodic transition adds a robust beauty to the music. Gruff, but with a bold warmth, Cole’s vocals complement the moving guitars." -  Nicole Mendes, The OtherSideReviews.com

“…we took our time with ”ALL I SEE, IS"…the track keeps a steady energy and an open feeling, moving forard without rushing and letting the idea sink in naturally" - Garage Indie Feelings, Groover.com
